We were delighted to be awarded our 7th Green Flag for Global Citizenship Energy in the 23/24 School Year
As with the other Green Schools themes, Global Citizenship Energy cross-cuts and integrates with the rest of the themes in many ways.
Global Citizenship – Energy is the seventh theme in the Green Schools Programme; it is a maintenance theme which revisits your school’s efforts on the Energy theme while expanding to look at energy and climate issues worldwide.
Actions and targets for Global Citizenship Energy were focused around: Raising awareness on how looking after our environment aids people all over the world, Promoting and facilitating ‘Active Citizenship’, Integrating the Global Citizenship – Energy ethos into your wider Green-Schools programme, Making an improvement in the energy management in your school
A big Thank You to our very hard-working and committed Green Schools Committee, and a special thanks also to our Green Schools co-ordinator Mr.Higgins for his dedication to this award. A great achievement for our School.
We will now be working towards our 8th Green Flag - Global Citizenship-Marine Environment.

Athleague NS have been successfull in obtaining their 8th Green flag this year under the theme of Global Citizenship and the Marine Environment. The Greenschool committee over the past two years of this theme have helped the children of the school become familiar with all things Marine including how our actions such as littering have a huge effect on Marine life. We looked at ways in which we can highlight issues and ways in which we can improve them.
